Sanaz Fallahkhair
En: Dr. Sanaz Fallahkhair is a Principal Lecturer in Human-Computer Interaction at the School of Architecture, Technology, and Engineering, University of Brighton. She is the School Equality, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) Lead and Manages Brighton user-centered Design Laboratory: https://www.brighton.ac.uk/ucd . She is research-active (GoogleScholar citations 934), supervising Ph.D. students, and a member of two research centers: “Centre for Secure, Intelligent and Usable Systems”, and “Centre for Digital Media Cultures”. Previously, she has held a Senior Lectureship position at the School of Computing, University of Portsmouth, and University of Greenwich Business School. She has more than ten years of experience working in higher education in the UK. Her research interests include human-centered development of new technologies that incorporate studies of user’s experiences, cognition, and collaboration in designing novel intelligent systems delivered via multiple platforms: mobile devices, interactive television, tag-based technologies, wearable technologies, and robotic interactions. Some related themes of her research include Human-Computer Interaction, Intelligent Tutoring Systems (ITS), User Modelling and Adaptation, Human Robotic Interactions, Intelligent Interaction Modelling, Data Analytic, and Sentiment Analysis, Artificial Intelligence Ethics for Development of human-centered AI-based Systems.
On a personal level, Sanaz is passionate about technologies and publicly advocates for Women in STEM. At the University of Brighton, she is also a member of the Athena Swan working group. Advance HE’s Athena SWAN Charter was established in 2005 to encourage and recognize the commitment to advancing the careers of women in science, technology, engineering, maths, and medicine (STEMM) employment in higher education and research.
