Workshop Digitization of education through AR/VR/XR and Blockchain technologies
Location: UPT e-Learning Center, Bul. Vasile Parvan, no. 2B, Room C401 (Floor IV)
April 11-12, 2023, 9:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m
The workshop approaches AR/VR/XR and blockchain technologies from the perspective of the ways in which they can contribute to the modernization of the educational process, adding digital components and increasing the degree of interactivity. From a technical point of view, the skills involved in these technologies, the infrastructure and platforms required for implementation, as well as the method of blockchain validation of the skills acquired will be presented. From the point of view of applicability, 3 areas will be addressed:
– Education, with an emphasis on the use of AR/VR/XR technologies to streamline and increase the attractiveness of the learning process, as well as blockchain validation of university degrees and skills generated on the basis of micro-credentials
– Culture, with an emphasis on the development of interactive applications that facilitate, through AR/VR/XR techniques, the involvement of the general public and the increase of attractiveness for various target groups
– Development of sustainable and smart regions with focus on the main pillars of a smart city / smart region, sustainable development of smart cities / regions, smart learning and smart campus vs. smart city, cultural and creative industries as the engine of smart cities.
Case studies on educational applications from various fields (from architecture to engineering sciences) will be presented, exemplifying ways to increase the degree of attractiveness.
Cultural applications from the field of Digital Culture & Heritage will also be presented, with a discussion of how to design and create them, as well as usability testing.
The examples will be based on the large-scale project "Spotlight Heritage - Heritage under the spotlight", a digital cultural initiative of UPT carried out in partnership with the National Museum of Banat, part of the Cultural Program Timisoara 2023 European Capital of Culture. The project presents the multiple stories of Timisoara through digital technologies, stories of cultural and historical heritage, of technical development, of communities and neighborhoods, of yesterday's and today's residents.
In terms of blockchain technologies, case studies of the European Blockchain Services Infrastructure (EBSI) network and its applications in education will be presented, as well as insights into the use of open data and blockchain technologies in the development of intelligent interactive applications.
The workshop aims to discuss and propose innovative solutions in the field of education and smart cities, with an emphasis on smart infrastructure and services and smart education.
