The EDEN Annual Conference from Timișoara Goes Virtual!

The 2020 Conference was planned to be held on 21-24 June in Timișoara, Romania, hosted by the Politehnica University of Timișoara. With the development of the pandemic COVID19, it is not likely that national and international restrictions on normalization of life, travels and social gatherings will be lifted by the end of June.

In making this decision, the Executive Committee has taken into account the recent, positive experience with virtual EDEN events, such as the webinars and chats by the EDEN Network of Academics and Professionals (NAP), the European Distance Learning Week (EDLW), the EDEN sessions at Open Education Week (OEW) and the recently starting (March 30) - Education in time of pandemic series.

EDEN (European Distance an e-Learning Network) aims to maintain the identity and momentum of the EDEN 2020 Conference as a major gathering of the European professional community, to focus on cutting-edge research, developments and problems, along with sharing experience and publishing achievements. ”We look forward to expressing togetherness and solidarity within our community with this extraordinary event!”, say EDEN representatives on the official website.

EDEN aims to ensure the enhanced academic quality of the event and the publications.

Full Papers will be double-blind peer-reviewed. Accepted Full papers will be published in the electronic Conference Proceedings with an ISSN and available online to all participants. The Conference Proceedings will be discovered and linked by Google and Google Scholar, Alma (ProQuest), EBSCO Discovery Services (EDS), with further indexing via the Central and Eastern European Online Library (CEEOL).

The Timișoara venue and partnership, acknowledging the efforts of the host University in the preparations will be maintained. In case the conditions improve for the better, it is planned to organize part of the virtual conference in-situ /on the spot/ in Timișoara.

EDEN looks forward to the continued successful collaboration with all members and partners, with a firm commitment to expressing togetherness and solidarity of the community.

"Let’s make this conference a memorable event in the hope of seeing each other face to face again on the EDEN Research Worksop in Lisbon on 21-23 October!”, say EDEN representatives on the official website.

The European Distance and E-Learning Network (EDEN) has organized Annual European conferences for the experts, academics and practitioners of open, distance and ICT enhanced learning since 1992.
