Spotlight Heritage Timișoara present at the Partenalia conference: an engaging digital experience of local cultural heritage

At the Partenalia conference on November 15, 2023, which took place in Timișoara, organized by the Timiș County Council, Dr. Diana Andone, director of the Center for ID/IFR and e-Learning, from the Politehnica University of Timișoara, spoke about the Spotlight Heritage Timișoara project .

During his presentation, the importance of using digital technologies for the promotion and preservation of local cultural heritage was emphasized. She presented the project Spotlight Heritage Timișoara, which uses virtual reality (VR) and augmented reality (AR) to offer visitors an interactive and immersive experience of the cultural heritage of the city of Timișoara.

The Spotlight Heritage Timișoara project includes a series of VR and AR applications that allow visitors to explore the city's important tourist attractions, such as the Synagogue in the Cetate district, the Millenium Church in the Fabric district or the Romanian National Opera. The apps are available for free for mobile devices and can be downloaded from the project website.

During the conference, participants had the opportunity to test Spotlight Heritage's VR and AR applications. They were impressed by the realism and interactivity of the applications, which offered them a unique experience of visiting the tourist attractions in Timișoara.

The Partenalia conference was an excellent opportunity for Dr. Diana Andone to present the Spotlight Heritage Timișoara project to a wide audience of intermediate local government representatives from Romania and other European countries. The project was received with interest by the participants, who appreciated its potential to promote and preserve the local cultural heritage.

The Spotlight Heritage Timișoara project is an excellent example of how digital technologies can be used to promote and preserve local cultural heritage. VR and AR applications provide an interactive and immersive experience that can help visitors better understand the city's history and culture.

Through the Spotlight Heritage Timișoara project, the Politehnica University of Timișoara contributes to the promotion of local cultural heritage and to the creation of a richer and more engaging visiting experience for tourists.
