The Politehnica University of Timișoara, through the UPT Virtual Campus continues to provide quality education even in the current crisis situation. Teachers and students already use an integrated type of online education, through tools but also interactive educational models.
The decision of the Board of Directors of the Polytechnic University of Timișoara regarding the prevention and monitoring of risks regarding COVID-19 (Coronavirus) within UPT, announces that, starting with March 11, 2020 at 2 pm and until March 22, 2020 all teaching activities (courses, seminars, laboratory work, practice, student examinations and tests, etc.) will take place exclusively online, using UPT Virtual Campus (cv.upt.ro), the specialized platform for distance learning and specific electronic communication systems.
Politehnica University of Timisoara has at its disposal a modern and already integrated infrastructure, necessary for carrying out educational activities online, using the specialized e-learning platform, the UPT Virtual Campus and online video conferencing systems.
UPT Virtual Campus
The UPT Virtual Campus, CVUPT, developed since 2006 by the ID / IFR and e-Learning Center (CeL) is an online educational support environment based on the open source Moodle system, intended for all UPT faculties and education at distance.CVUPT is strongly customized and adapted to the needs of engineering education, flexible, with innovative communication elements, with interactive videos, virtual laboratories and virtual classrooms.
Because, since 2010, in UPT, the Master's degree programs are integrated in CVUPT and use in a normal and continuous regime the educational method of blended learning (blendedlearning), and students are familiar with distance learning, integration and online support. for them it is easy.
Over 350 of the undergraduate specialization courses already used CVUPT as an academic learning medium, which allows for the transition to online learning. In the last two days, the rest of the courses have been integrated for students from other specializations, the number of online courses now being over 1000. All course materials, seminar, laboratory, project related to the Master and Bachelor disciplines are in the Virtual Campus of UPT - CVUPT, in the online courses dedicated to each faculty.
Communication with students is continuously available online, through the Forum of each course, but also through individualized messages.
The teaching activities will be supported through virtual classes, by videoconference, interactive, with the possibility for students to ask questions, to be seen and heard, all the activity being recorded to be accessed later. UPT already uses various online tools for this, especially open source, with which some teachers and students are already familiar. A large part of the integrated educational materials are made in collaboration with students and are open educational resources, which UPT now plans to make available to colleagues from the Romanian Association of Technical Universities (ARUT).
