Dr. Diana Andone (@ diando70) this director al E-Learning Center, The Politehnica University of Timișoara, with responsibilities in the planning and implementation of distance learning and the integration of the use of digital educational technologies for all forms of education, through UPT Virtual Campus - CVUPT. Dr. Andone is a lecturer in multimedia and web technologies, developing the courses Multimedia technologies, Web 2.0 technologies, Interactivity and usability, Instructional technologies, at bachelor's and master's level, initiating in 2008 the international virtual mobility project TalkTech. Diana is passionate about the ubiquitous integration of thenologies in everyday life and their use for a better life.
Dr. Andone holds a PhD in “Designing eLearning Spaces for Digital Students” from the University of Brighton, UK, a Masters in European Studies from the University of West Timisoara, a postgraduate distance learning course “Learning about Open Learning” at Herriott-Watt University, Edinburgh, UK; Master in Artificial Intelligence from the Polytechnic University of Timișoara, Romania. He followed various specializations in universities in Great Britain, France, Finland, Greece, Germany. Since 1998 he has been teaching course modules at universities in Great Britain, France, USA, Finland, Italy, Greece.
Dr. Andone has an intense international research activity through various European-funded projects and multiple publications: over 17 books, 100 scientific papers, 11 Best paper Awards, from 2010 Co-Chair at IADIS WWW / Inter International Conference 2017 Chair at IEEE ICALT iOpenLearn Conference, 2019 Chair at EDEN International Conference, member of over 20 conference committees, reviewer at 6 impact journals and 2020 associate editor for IEEE Transactions on Education.
Dr. Andone is strongly involved in the work of the scientific community (EDEN, IEEE, AACE, IADIS, IAFES) through various leadership positions of international associations. EDEN (Vice President for Communication 2018 - 2021), member of the National Committee IEEE Romania (responsible for education 2019 - present), member of the International Steering Committee IEEE Education (2020- present). In 2012 he received the EDEN Fellow Title (European Distance and E-Learning Network) award and in 2021 the EDEN Senior Fellow award. In 2021 he received the IEEE Education Society 2021 Distinguished Chapter Leadership Award, in 2021 the Diploma of Excellence from the UPT Faculty of Electronics, Telecommunications and Information Technology, and the e-Learning Center. was awarded the UPT Digitization of Excellence Award in 2020.
For the past 25 years, she has been involved in more than 30 EU-funded projects, recently focused on open education, open access to knowledge, open source technologies, digital skills and digital culture. She was also the coordinator and initiator of Erasmus + projects DigiCulture (Improving Digital Competencies and Improving Adult Social Inclusion), LLL ViCaDiS (Virtual Campus for Digital Students) and National Manager on MODE-IT, ABCtoVLE, OpenVirtualMobilities, IoT Rapid ProtoLab, GirlsTech, m-commerce, SKILL2E, CBora, i , ESIL, e-Taster, e-report projects, as well as the national project DidaTec (Training in blended-learning and new educational technologies for university staff). Dr. Andone, together with the CeL team, initiated the project in 2016 UniCampus - online courses in Romania through which the first Romanian MOOCs were created.
It actively promotes the principles of open education, the use of open educational resources (OER), open knowledge and massive open online courses (MOOCs), training for digital skills, digital culture, as part of its daily activities or through its work in various associations. or communities, but also by supporting the activity of the regional community of start-ups and innovation, (StartUp Weekend, HacktTM, hackathons, CoderDojo, Girls in Tech, Women in Tech and women in science -STEM) cultural (member of the Timișoara Association 2023 European Union) and social responsibility (member of the Board Foundation for You, member and former president of Rotary Club Timisoara).
For the last 25 years he has been active in various media projects (BBC and Teleuniversitatea) and in regional cultural projects. In 2018, he initiated the digital culture project Spotlight Heritage Timișoara / Heritage under the spotlight Timișoara, a participatory project to create intangible digital cultural heritage, which tells the multiple stories of Timișoara through digital technologies.

Dr.eng. Diana Andone is the Director of the eLearning Center of Politehnica University of Timisoara, Romania, responsible for planning and implementing digital technologies, online learning technologies, and the university award winning Virtual Campus CVUPT. She is also associate professor at the Politehnica University of Timisoara, Romania, in the area of multimedia, interactive and web technologies. Since 1998, she teaches course modules in universities from UK, France, USA, Finland, Italy, Greece. She holds a PhD in Designing eLearning Spaces for Digital Students with Brighton University, UK, has extensive research experience with intense publication (over 17 books, 100 research papers, 11 Best paper Awards) and more than 30 research and educational projects, mainly funded by the European Commission. She is passionate about the ubiquitous access to technologies and how they can be used to improve people’s lives. Dr. Andone actively promotes the use of OERs, MOOCs and the open education principles, developing UniCampus.eu for training for digital skills, acting in international associations (EDEN, IEEE, AACE, IADIS, IAFES,) actively supports the local start-up movement (StartUp Weekend, HackTM, hackathons, CoderDojo) and Girls in Tech, Women in Tech and STEM education. She also acts in the Board of Romanian NGOs (Pentru Voi Foundation), in Timisoara 2021 European Capital of Culture Task Force and in other voluntary organizations. Dr. Andone is EDEN Senior Fellow, IEEE Education Society 2021 Distinguished Chapter Leadership Award, EDEN Vice-President for Communication and Communities (2018-2021), and member in IEEE Education Society Board of Governors (2021-present), and in IEEE Romania Section the Educational activities Chair (2019-present).
