Virtual worlds, augmented realities and many educational games and applications - these were just some of the attractions that gathered hundreds of children at the UPT stand at the Timișoara Science Festival Timișoara. Here, the researchers from the ID / IFR and e-Learning Center welcomed the little ones with a lot of good mood, glasses and state-of-the-art VR equipment and explained to those interested the "science" behind the technologies used.
In addition, students passionate about technology had the opportunity to find out what are the latest innovations in the field of applications and games of augmented and virtual reality and were able to create, in a few minutes, their own 3D imaginary world that they then visited by using your mobile phone.
Math exercises with VR glasses
The virtual reality equipment of the center (Oculus Rift and Oculus Go glasses) but also the Cospaces educational platform were the points of attraction of the CeL stand. The children explored spaceships, climbed Everest, were among the dinosaurs or did math or physics exercises in a virtual environment. In the Cospaces environment, they created content that can be used in the Spotlight Heritage project that UPT is carrying out under the auspices of Timișoara 2021 European Capital of Culture. The European Erasmus + Digital Culture and Open Virtual Mobility projects were also presented at the stand.
TSF - promoter of "sciences" after the Western model
Timișoara Science Festival, under the auspices of the Romanian Science Festival, is an event meant to support alternative education in Romania, following the model of science fairs in the West. The 2019 edition took place in 3 cities - Timisoara, Baia Mare and Pitesti, in order to promote sciences such as mathematics, physics, astronomy, chemistry, biology and others.
