Politehnica University Timișoara, through the Department of ID/IFR and Digital Education, together with the Multimedia Center and alongside the cultural project Spotlight Heritage Timișoara, invites you to participate in a new edition of the European Researchers' Night event in 2026!

On September 25, between 6:00 PM and 11:00 PM, we are waiting for you at UPT Technical Museum / ExperimentariumTM (Splaiul Spiru Haret) and Nokia Campus (Boulevardul Republicii 21) for an evening full of experiments, journeys through virtual worlds, but also a look at the future of education, through the research results of the E³UDRES² Alliance and Accelerate Future HEI projects.

Admission is free – visitors will become virtual tourists of the city and will discover the history, culture and heritage of Timișoara through unique alternative methods, having the opportunity to interact with a complex real-virtual world, using state-of-the-art digital technologies!

What you can explore:

  • A fascinating foray into the history of computer science, with a close look at MECIPT-1, the first Romanian university computer, presented by our experts;
  • The stories of people and 5 neighborhoods historical sites in Timișoara;
  • Interactive edutainment, mobile and mixed reality applications;
  • Latest apps Heritage under spotlights / Spotlight Heritage Timisoara Virtual Reality (VR) and Mixed Reality (AR/MR);
  • AR games, through which you can discover the history and multiculturalism of the city, but also interact with objects from the city's cultural heritage;
  • Nokia VR Bell Labs Museum  – a virtual reality application that offers participants the opportunity to visit the history of telephones (application created by students of the Multimedia Technologies master's degree launched during the Nokia Bell Labs 100 event).
  • Fun moments with science and technology applications;

Projects with impact for the European community

The participation of the Politehnica University of Timișoara in the European Researchers' Night 2026 is supported by European partnerships within the E³UDRES² Alliance and Accelerate Future HEI projects, initiatives that constantly promote digital education, entrepreneurship for both communities and higher education institutions. During the event, the public will have the opportunity to explore not only interactive experiments and innovative activities, but also to discover the results of fundamental and applied research developed within these projects, thus strengthening UPT's approach in promoting academic excellence and innovation.

The E³UDRES² Alliance is one of 50 European University Alliances, an initiative launched by the European Commission, which is an indicator of excellence in higher education. The E³UDRES² European University Alliance comprises nine higher education institutions: a combination of single science universities and universities of applied sciences (UAS).

Higher education institutions can have a positive impact on social and economic development at regional and European level through education, research and engagement. However, they need specific support to strengthen their capacity to fully realise their potential. The „Accelerate Future HEI” project will develop and test acceleration services designed to provide higher education institutions with the skills and capacity to drive institutional transformation, so that they become more entrepreneurial and innovative institutions over the next four years. scientific universities and universities of applied sciences (UAS).

Spotlight Heritage Timișoara/Heritage under the spotlight is a digital cultural initiative of the Politehnica University of Timișoara carried out in partnership with the National Museum of Banat, part of the Cultural Program Timișoara 2023 European Capital of Culture.
