VR art and technology conquered Jecza Park: Virtual and mixed reality multimedia show, created in partnership with Politehnica University Timișoara

Timisoara, July 2026 – The Jecza Foundation continued implementing the cultural program dedicated to the residents of the Braytim area of Timișoara. In this regard, on Friday, July 10, 2026, the Jecza Foundation Park hosted the fourth major event within the general project "Jecza Foundation Park - open stage": the multimedia show „"ArtTM – Spotlight Heritage Timișoara".

The event was a digital foray into the city's memory, carried out in partnership with the Politehnica University of Timișoara (UPT). The evening began with a series of live demonstrations of augmented, virtual and mixed reality (AR/VR/MR) applications, where a group of 23 children and young people had the opportunity to test and explore the virtual reality (VR) and mixed reality (MR) applications "Spotlight Heritage Timișoara", as well as the VR application "Nokia Bell Labs", developed by UPT together with students from the Multimedia Technologies master's program of UPT.

It all started with the ArtTM project, launched in 2015 as a mobile application and a series of digital experiences dedicated to public art in the city and the works of sculptor Peter Jecza (also found in the collection of the Jecza Museum), and has now been transformed into an interactive virtual experience with the help of the ID/IFR and Digital Education Department. The 14 public art works that were an important part of the show were presented and explained to the audience by Sorina Jecza.

The entire event culminated with 3D projections on multiple screens and on the Jecza Museum building, which presented in a special way the sculptures from Timișoara, from the Jecza Museum, as well as heritage objects from the National Museum of Banat.

Continuing the program, the audience enjoyed fragments from the 10 productions of the Heritage Spotlight / Spotlight Heritage Timișoara (Timișoara 2023 - European Capital of Culture program), in a game of image, movement and memory, then continued with an artistic moment dedicated to the theme of the 1989 Revolution and its martyrs, staged by the Magnum Dance Team.

Beyond recovering local memory and Timișoara's past, we wanted to show how digitization, be it from 3D scanning of heritage objects from the National Museum of Banat, to art objects and buildings, to the active involvement of young people in the development of applications, manages to transform the past into a living and interactive experience, accessible to everyone, without restrictions.
