The project, which started in October 2022, is funded by the European Commission and managed by the European Research Executive Agency (REA), through the Horizon Europe program, under its scientific excellence pillar (call HORIZON-WIDERA-2021-ACCESS-05), which aims to strengthen the research and innovation capacity of higher education institutions, countries and their ecosystems.

E³UDRES² Ent-re-innovators includes, interacts and collaborates with a diverse range of smart and ambitious individuals, academic institutions, regional authorities, businesses, European research and innovation networks and regional innovation ecosystems. E³UDRES² Ent-re-novators is committed to scientific excellence and research integrity within its key transdisciplinary and cross-sectoral research and innovation networks and promotes (future) competences, skills, resources, methods, training, services and management in research and innovation for collaborative research and open innovation for smart and sustainable regions.

Within the project with a duration of 36 months, E³UDRES² Ent-re-innovators aims to carry out a diagnosis of the existing heritage in this part of the European territory in terms of research and innovation, focusing on fundamental areas such as infrastructure, equipment and human resources, activities, lines, groups and networks of research, development and innovation, as well as policies and practices regarding open science and commitment to society.

Mission E³UDRES² Ent-re-novators

In line with its vision, mission, core values, culture and principles, the project E³UDRES² Ent-re-innovators aims to co-create a more specific common research and innovation strategy and a common agenda to accelerate the transformation into a multi-institutional European research and innovation hub for smart and sustainable regions.

Objectives of E³UDRES² Ent-re-novators

Objective 1:

Co-creating a common strategy and agenda to unlock our potential for excellence in research and innovation, to accelerate the transformation into a European inter-institutional research and innovation hub for smart and sustainable regions;

Objective 2:

Developing best practices and a strategy for pooling research infrastructures, expertise, data and resources and for collaborating with or gaining access to other strategic research infrastructures;

Objective 3:

Developing structured support programs designed to enable our scientific communities to fully embrace Open Science, Open Innovation, Open Education, Engaged Science and Engaged Education;

Objective 4:

To strive for a level playing field in institutional strategies and policies on human resources for research, on the basis of which we will be able to address larger challenges such as brain mobility, new career assessments and common recruitment strategies;

Objective 5:

Developing a structured and integrated framework to seamlessly connect all our research and innovation ecosystems and the knowledge triangle of the E3UDRES2 alliance in education, research and innovation;

Objective 6:

Along our journey to build a common research and innovation agenda, connecting and engaging with similar higher education alliances and institutions, higher education associations and advocacy groups, as well as policy makers, in order to contribute evidence-based results to the co-creation of future SEE/ERA (European Education Area/European research area) work programmes and to inform better policies.
