Opening of the ID/IFR 2026-2027 academic year: online emotions for hundreds of students
The weekend brought the first emotions of the new academic year for students enrolled in distance learning (DLT) and part-time (FLT) at Politehnica University Timișoara. They took part on Saturday, October 4, in the official opening ceremony of the 2026–2027 academic year.
Organized by Department of ID/IFR and Digital Education (DeL), the event took place online, via Zoom, bringing together hundreds of first-generation students, along with teaching staff, representatives of UPT management and faculties, as well as members of the DeL team.
The opening of the Ceremony was marked by the singing of the traditional Gaudeamus Igitur, the welcome speech being delivered by the host of the event, Dr. Diana Andone – the director of DeL. Also in the opening, Professor Eng. Alina Dumitrel, Vice-rector of UPT welcomed the new students with a welcome message addressed on behalf of the university management.
Informatics ID - Faculty of Robotics, Artificial Intelligence and Autonomous Systems
The dean of the new faculty, etc.. Dr. Eng. Robert Kristof, together with the PProf. Dr. Eng. Lăcrămioara Stoicu-Tivadar, academic responsible for the IT specialization, welcomed the new students.
TST ID - Faculty of Electronics, Telecommunications and Information Technologies
Dean of the Faculty of Electronics, Telecommunications and Information Technology - Prof. Dr. Eng. Cătălin Căleanu with the Prof. Dr. Eng. Mocofan Muguraș, the academic responsible for the specialization ID technologies and telecommunications systems welcomed the new students from TST ID.
CRP ID - Faculty of Communication Sciences
Students from the specialization Communication and Public Relations - distance learning were greeted by Prof. Dr. Daniel Dejica-Carțiș, dean of the Faculty of Communication Sciences and Prof. Dr. Mugurel Dragomir - academic responsible for the CRP - ID specialization.
TCM IFR - Faculty of Mechanics
On behalf of the Faculty of Mechanics, the dean of the faculty addressed the students - conf Dr. Eng. Dragoș Uțu - together that the academic responsible for the specialization of Machine Building Technology - part-time education - Lecturer Dr. Eng. Adrian Dume.
International opportunities through E³UDRES²
At the same time, the participants learned more about the European Universities Alliance E³UDRES² and about the international opportunities offered to UPT students, from courses and mobility programs to multicultural collaboration projects. The celebration was concluded by the host of the event, Dr. Diana Andone, to the tunes of the Anthem of Politehnica University Timișoara, officially marking the beginning of a new stage of learning and professional development.
At the end of the Opening Ceremony of the ID/IFR 2026-2027 academic year, students participated in a training session on the use of the UPT Virtual Campus, supported by s.l. dr. ing. Andrei Ternauciuc and dr. Diana Andone.
