Creative Entrepreneurship training program

Politehnica University of Timisoara in partnership with the Intercultural Institute Timisoara announces the training program Creative Entrepreneurship (Creative Entrepreneurship), from the project InclusiveArtof the Timișoara Intercultural Institute.

The InclusiveArt project

The Intercultural Institute Timisoara implements the project InclusiveArt - Access to culture for disadvantaged children and young people, funded by the Romania-Serbia Interreg IPA Cross-Border Cooperation Program, together with partners: Nevo Parudimos Resita, Zrenjanin City Hall, Terra Kikinda Center for Fine and Applied Arts.

Beside Creative Entrepreneurship training programInclusiveArt project includes several opportunities for young and creative people: mentoring and guidance in developing business ideas, business plans, projects; meetings with successful personalities from creative areas, success stories; the opportunity to be selected among the 24 participants for a training program of Socio-Educational Animator; the opportunity to gain practical experience in implementing creative projects: 24 creative people will be selected and will receive financial resources to initiate 12 cultural interventions in 12 communities in the project area; international mobility in RO / SR; publishing the best cultural interventions in the Handbook of Socio-Educational Animations, the project website and the project album.

Registration for the Creative Entrepreneurship training program

Registration for the training program Creative Entrepreneurship is open during November 20 - January 6, 2018.

The aim of the program is to prepare young and creative people to increase the potential of local communities and disadvantaged groups through inclusive and innovative social practices, to use art and culture to create inclusive contexts for integration and creative growth. The program will discuss topics specific to the creative industries, combined with economic activities based on the creation and use of various information. The training will be delivered in a blended learning mode, ie through face-to-face training sessions but also online activities on a dedicated e-learning platform (UPT Virtual Campus).

Target Group: young people (under 35 years old), living in the following counties in Romania: Timiş, Caraş-Severin, Mehedinti Saudi Arabia Serbia: Severnobanatski, Srednjebanatski, Južnobanatski, Braničevski, Borski, Podunavski; without a job, young graduates with interests in the creative industries and good knowledge of English.

Sign up: To register, all applicants must complete the online form (available here) where they will include a CV (Europass format, completed in English) and a statement stating that the participants do not have a job and live in the project area (please use the template here) and a copy of a valid identity document. All partners and the contractor will be involved in the selection of participants. The selection process will end on December 21, when the selected candidates will be announced. Exceptionally, the registration can be extended until 06.01.2018.

Curriculum and delivery of the Creative Entrepreneurship training program 

Course cost: free, coffee breaks and lunch included. During the face-to-face training period, accommodation will be offered for people who do not live in the Timișoara area, without any additional costs.

Online training period: January 10 - February 27, 2018

The face-to-face training period: 12-17 February 2018

  1. Creative entrepreneurship - case studies - good practices and examples of companies in the arts and creative areas.
  2. Project cycle management - project planning, project management and project evaluation.
  3. Starting a business - how to start a business, legislation for companies and creating an effective business plan.
  4. Business management - financial management, labor market, people management and crowdsourcing techniques.
  5. Communication - communication skills in professional environments, understanding personalities.
  6. Marketing for the arts - marketing and digital marketing.
  7. Digital skills - IT skills, social media, security and personal data issues, copyright and intellectual property.

The Creative Entrepreneurship training has started

Timișoara Polytechnic University, through the eLearning Center, together with the Timișoara Intercultural Institute, conducts face-to-face course sessions between 12 and 17 February 2018 of the course Creative Entrepreneurship.

This course brings to Timisoara, 40 creative and diverse young people, who are currently unemployed. At the opening on Monday, February 12, more than 50 people participated, mostly young artists, project students, teachers, the organizing team, but also representatives of the Polytechnic University of Timisoara. The young artists are from Serbia (Kikinda, Zrenjanin, Vrsac and Pancevo) and Romania (Timișoara, Caransebeș, Băile Herculane and Resita) with experience and interests in theater, acting, visual arts, circus arts, multimedia, clothing design, photography, ethnology and crafts.

Ana Maria Ursu, a student from Timișoara, told us that for her this course offers her the opportunity to better and more structured understand how to make a cultural intervention in a community "I want to understand how my artistic side can combine harmonions in such projects. I am also interested in what funds I can access to achieve the objectives of the Solidart association I set up. I also appreciate in this course the possibility of networking with other artists and entrepreneurs. We can debate the same issues from different perspectives.

Also the project director, dna. Dr. Corina Răceanu he said that "this course aims to provide not only theoretical knowledge about creative entrepreneurship, but also tools to help young people have the courage to run a business or to continue their work in the NGO in which to attract successful projects and successfully implemented”.

This course is carried out in partnership with the Polytechnic University of Timișoara and is delivered through blended learning, ie online activities on a dedicated e-learning platform (UPT Virtual Campus) but also through face-to-face training sessions. Dna. Dr. Diana Andone, Director, ID / IFR and e-Learning Center of UPT "We are now in the week of direct interactive sessions that allow us different activities, group work, creative exercises but also presentations of important creative actors from Timisoara. Participants learn various information from the area of creative entrepreneurship through case studies, plan and develop a concrete idea of a cultural project, learn how to start a business and then manage it, how to promote yourself through marketing for the arts. In the end, I am convinced that they will develop communication skills and digital skills”.

This event brings together young people from Romania and Serbia. Kai David Melank, from Serbia came to Timișoara because he believes that this course will help him fulfill his dream "I am close to completing my multimedia studies and together with my colleague we want to open our design studio. I applied to this course, because I think it is a good opportunity to learn how to achieve my dream. It is a valuable experience that brings me many connections that will be useful to me in the future and, of course, I think it will give me some of the knowledge needed to be successful in opening the studio.”.

The project team is represented by Dr. Călin Rus (director of the Timișoara Intercultural Institute), Dr. Corina Răceanu (project director, from the Timișoara Intercultural Institute) and Dr. Diana Andone (director of the training program and the eLearning Center within UPT ). On behalf of the Polytechnic University of Timișoara, prof.dr.ing. Florin Dragan (vice-rector responsible for the educational process, student issues and quality assurance) and prof.dr.ing. Radu Vasiu (President of the Senate). The tutors of this course are academics but also people from the Timisoara business environment: Dr. Călin Rus, Dr. Corina Răceanu, Prof.univ.dr. Anca Drăghici, Dr.eng. Vlad Mihăescu, Marius Popa, Prof.univ.dr. Matei Tămășilă, Dr. Andreea Foanene and Dr. Diana Andone. After the training sessions, participants will have discussions with representatives of Jecza Gallery, Triade Foundation, Embassy, Plai, NESST (Nonprofit Enterprise and Self-sustainability Team), Timișoara Association European Capital of Culture 2021, Banat IT and StartUpHub Timișoara.

This course is carried out within the project "InclusiveArt - Access to culture for disadvantaged children and young people", eMS RORS-22, funded by the European Union through the INTERREG IPA Romania-Serbia Cross-Border Cooperation Program, coordinator Timisoara Intercultural Institute in partnership with the Nevo Parudimos Association (Resita), Zrenjanin City Hall (Serbia), the Center for Fine and Applied Arts Terra (Kikinda, Serbia).

Inclusive art includes a multitude of opportunities for young and creative people: mentoring and guidance in developing business ideas, business plans, projects, meetings with successful people in the area of creativity, success stories and the opportunity to be selected for a program training.

Course Curricula

This short training course, by the Politehnica University of Timisoara in partnership with the Intercultural Institute of Timisoara is designed for people with interests in creative industries. The core of the program is business, management and communication know-how, entrepreneurship and digital skills for those who want to make a living within the wide definition of creative industries (Advertising and marketing, Architecture and landscapes, Crafts and other cultural heritage fields, Design: product, graphic and fashion design, Film, TV, video, radio and photography, IT, digital economy and gaming, Publishing and media, Museums, galleries and libraries, Music, performing and visual arts).

Modules:

1. Creative Entrepreneurship - case studies

Participants will learn about good practices and examples of businesses from the arts and creative areas, from Romania and other European countries, in order to get a clear introduction into the topic.

2. Project management

This module will help participants gain basic competencies into the field of project cycle management, including project planning, project management and project evaluation, in order to be able to respond to the challenges and requirements of each phase of the cycle.

3. Starting a business

This module will introduce participants to notions regarding how to set up a business, will help them be aware of different business legislations and will give them the basic understanding of creating an efficient business plan. It will also address the issue of entrepreneurial skills and the key features and competencies of a successful creative entrepreneur.

4. Business management

In this module, participants will learn about important elements of financial management, about introductory notions of labor market and guidance and they will gain skills of people management and crowdsourcing techniques.

5. Communication

This module will offer participants communication skills in professional settings, will guide them into effective teamwork by understanding personality types and will help them with a better awareness of portfolio design and presentation.

6. Marketing of Arts

In this module, participants will learn about basic marketing notions and will gain theoretical and practical skills in digital marketing.

7. Digital skills

This module is all about IT skills relevant for creative areas, to develop participants' competencies in using social media, security and privacy issues, copyright and intellectual property rights.
