The Spotlight Timișoara mobile apps

Spotlight Heritage reveals, by digital storytelling, Timisoara through stories of cultural and historical heritage, of technical development, of communities and neighborhoods, interwoven with the personal stories of the inhabitants of yesterday and today.

Mobile apps –available for both Android and iOS - present the iconic points of the Iosefin neighborhood, improved with the help of augmented reality, allowing users to view current and old photos of buildings, 360-degree pictures inside and out.

Also, the visitors will be able to read the history of the buildings, they will be able to read the memories of Valeria Pintea about the respective building, they will be able to read the stories of the different communities and can add their own story or memory about the place.

The open, participatory mobile application contains:

Landmarks - data and information of cultural and historical heritage, geographically mapped, photos and films, with recognition of buildings by augmented reality, 360 images
Sequences - fexcerpts from the novel Valeria dr. Pintea (author: Liana Maria Gomboșiu, Timișoara, Marineasa Publishing House, 2013), offered by the author and images from the archives
Community - information from the history of neighborhoods, communities, ethnicities, organizations that were or are present in the neighborhood
Your story - users can add their own personal stories, comments, photos, videos
Events - events from exhibitions, guided tours offered with high school teenagers

Navigating through augmented reality

1. Situated in a certain location, you open the AR section

2. You open the photo-video camera and in a corner of the screen, you see a pictogram with the facade of the building which the phone can recognize (to understand how to position yourself to the building).

3. Scanning that facade, you see an image of the old building overlayed on the one in front of you. In the map mode, with all the stations, you can change on AR mode, and you will see the stations around you and the distance to them.

The project is focused on the emblematic points of the Iosefin district - Lloyd palace, The National Museum of Banat, The Palace of Water, The Palace of the Southern Region Casino, The Orthodox Church in Al. Mocioni Square - first residence of Valeria Pintea, the second residence of Valeria Pintea (str. E Gojdu nr. 2), Hochstrasser Palace, The Roman Catholic Church, The Iosefin marketKandia Chocholate Factory, The Firehouse in Iosefin, The Iosefin Synagogue, North Railway Staytion Timisoara, The Iron bridge from Iosefin, Elisabeta Mill from Iosefin, Julius Arendt Confectionery, The Water Tower from Iosefin which are brought back to life through personal histories, such as those of Valeria Dr. Pintea, 1893 - 1984; of the Lloyd Palace, the building of the UPT Rectorate through the turbulent history of the building before the First World War, the inter-war one and the educational impact of today; of public works of art.
