International Spotlight Heritage Student Contest 2023 and Interactive Digital Media Student Contest 2023
The Polytechnic University of Timișoara organizes the third edition of International Spotlight Heritage Student Contest (ISHSC) 2023 and Interactive Digital Media Student Contest (IDMSC) 2023, in its 9th edition, which will take place on November 17, 2023, starting at 11:00 a.m in the Multipurpose Hall of the UPT Central Library, (Bd. Vasile Pârvan No. 2, Timișoara).
The IDMSc and ISHSC competitions are open to students (bachelor, master, doctorate) and students from any of the institutions in Romania, Europe and the USA and are organized by the Multimedia Center and the e-Learning Center of Politehnica Timișoara University in the fields of:
a Web Development / Web Development – web applications, on a current topic, of any type and format, including artificial intelligence
a Development for mobile devices / Mobile development – mobile applications using any computing architecture and for any platform
a Graphic Design and Audio-Video Production / Graphic Design & Audio-Video production – web banner, website template, infographic, poster / poster, brochure / leaflet, cover, visual identity elements, processed digital images, videos, advertising spots, generic / promo / trailer, video animations, timelapse, special effects / tricks
a Internet of Things / Internet of Things – implementation of an IoT concept or device that combines hardware, software and data on a current topic (eg smart home, sensor network, robots, others).
a International Spotlight Heritage Student Contest (eXtended Reality) – AR/VR/XR applications made on the basis of free information from the Spotlight Heritage Timișoara platform – this section has its own regulation https://spotlight-timisoara.eu/eveniment/regulation-for-international-spotlight-heritage-student-contest-2023/ .
Within the ISHSC 2023 competition, students from 5 renowned partner universities from Romania, Norway, Italy, Denmark and Lithuania, bringing a special cultural and academic diversity, will work in international teams to develop projects that integrate augmented and virtual reality and create digital artefacts that value and celebrate the richness of Timișoara's cultural heritage as part of the project Spotlight Heritage Timișoara.
The application period for IDMSC 2023 is open until November 16 at 12:00, the presentation of the projects, the pitching and the judging will take place on the date of November 17, 2023 through physical or online presence. Talent and creativity will be rewarded with prizes worth more than 5000 euros offered by funders and partner companies and the possibility of being nominated for the prestigious EU Medeea Awards 2024 (both competitions combined).
The event is part of the cultural digital initiative Spotlight Heritage Timișoara, part of the Cultural Program Timișoara 2023 European Capital of Culture and is co-financed by the EEA and Norway Grants funds and by the Municipality of Timișoara through the Project Center, Timiș County Council, Ministry of Culture, Romania.

Heritage under the spotlight Timisoara
Spotlight Heritage Timișoara / Heritage under the spotlight is a digital cultural initiative of the Politehnica University of Timișoara carried out in partnership with the National Museum of Banat, part of the Cultural Program Timișoara 2023 European Capital of Culture. Cultural project co-financed by the Municipality of Timișoara through the Project Center, the Timiș County Council, the Ministry of Culture, EEA and Norway Grants. The Virtual Spotlight Heritage Timisoara project benefits from a €97,000 grant from Iceland, Liechtenstein and Norway through the EEA and Norway Grants.
