Hundreds of visitors to the UPT Technical Museum for the European Researchers' Night: Innovation presented by E³UDRES² Ent-re-novators

Politehnica University of Timisoara (UPT), through the Department of Digital Education and Distance Learning and the Multimedia Center, brought together over 200 visitors to UPT Technical Museum and over 7,000 people at Nokia Campus during the European Researchers' Night event (Friday, September 26). Participants included students, pupils and the general public, who engaged in an interactive and educational experience, exploring the future of education and the results of applied research developed within the project E³UDRES² Ent-re-innovators.

Innovation through E³UDRES² Ent-re-novators

UPT's participation in this celebration of science placed particular emphasis on the initiative E³UDRES² Ent-re-innovators Horizon Widera, which promotes research and innovation (R&I) networks and regional innovation ecosystems. The audience had the opportunity to see first-hand how fundamental and applied research contributes to the development of innovative solutions with a real impact on the European community.

Interactive Exhibitions: From the History of Computer Science to VR, AR/MR

Visitors became "virtual tourists" of the city of Timisoara, interacting with a complex virtual world, using state-of-the-art digital technologies. Among the most appreciated attractions were:

  • A foray into the history of computer science, with a close look at MECIPT-1, the first Romanian university computer.

  • The newest applications within the project Spotlight Heritage Timișoara, which include Virtual Reality (VR) and Mixed Reality (AR/MR) and who brought to life the stories of the city's historic neighborhoods.

  • Interactive games in It and applications like edutainment.

  • Chemistry and physics demonstrations for children.

  • Nokia VR Bell Labs Museum, an application that offered a virtual tour through the history of mobile phones.

All of these applications are practical examples of how citizen science can have an impact and be shaped by the community.

The success of the event aligns with UPT's commitment to promoting academic excellence and innovation, actively strengthening its participation in E³UDRES² Ent-re-novators project for transforming higher education and stimulating innovation at the regional level.
