Franz Fidler
University of Applied Sciences St. Poelten
Head of Faculty at USTP – University of Applied Sciences St. Poelten / Co-Lead European Campus Hainburg/ Co-Founder TriLite Technologies
Franz Fidler received his Dipl.-Ing. (M.Sc.) degree and Dr. (Ph.D.) degree (Promotio sub auspiciis Praesidentis rei publicae) in electrical/communications engineering from the Vienna University of Technology, Vienna, Austria, in 2004 and 2007, respectively. From 2008 to 2009, he was a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at Columbia University, New York, and Bell Laboratories, Murray Hill, NJ, where he was involved in investigating cross-layer information exchange in optical networks. His academic work, e.g. for the European Space Agency, has been focused on high-speed optical free-space communications. During several research visits at Bell Laboratories, Holmdel, he was involved in investigating performance-enhancement measures in wavelength-division multiplexing networks, which involved the use of vertical-cavity surface-emitting lasers, advanced modulation formats, and high-speed field-programmable gate arrays. From 2010 to 2013, Franz Fidler was CTO at C SEED Entertainment Systems GmbH and from 2011 to 2018 CTO at TriLite Technologies GmbH. Currently, he is USTP project lead for the Europacampus Hainburg and Head of the Faculty Engineering & Business at the USTP – University of Applied Sciences St. Poelten (where from 2013 to 2026 he was also responsible for the Master programs in the field of Digital Media Technologies – Master Interactive Technologies, Master Digital Design, Master Digital Media Production and Master Digital Media Management). Franz Fidler is Co-Founder of TriLite Technologies and until 2025 was Member of it’s Advisory Board (Technical Lead). He currently is also Consortium Lead of the Digital Innovation Hub Ost (DIHOST).
