Politehnica University of Timișoara continues to strengthen innovation in engineering - Dr. Diana Andone was elected for the position of Vice-President of the IEEE Education Society

The Department of ID/IFR and Digital Education of the Politehnica Timișoara University is pleased to announce that Dr. Diana Andone has been elected to the position of Vice-President within the IEEE world association, the Education Society.

With a solid career in research, innovation and education, Dr. Diana Andone has had a significant impact in promoting advanced digital technologies and online and digital education, being recognized for her outstanding contributions in areas such as open education, virtual and augmented reality, learning digital, interactive application development and artificial intelligence in education.

Director of the Department of ID/IFR and Digital Education and teaching staff at the Politehnica Timișoara University, Dr. Diana Andone was chosen due to her recognized expertise and her dedication to promoting innovation and excellence in the field of engineering education globally.

Chosen for period 2021-2023 Member of the Board of Directors of the IEEE Education Society, Dr. Diana Andone was re-elected in August 2023 for this position and at the same time, through global online elections, Vice President responsible for conferences, workshops and events, the first member from Romania in such a position. Dr. Andone was awarded the 2021 Prize "Distinguished Chapter Leadership" of the IEEE Education Society for the promotion and implementation of e-learning activities, but also for the innovative contributions in digital education and the promotion of the IEEE Association in Romania. She is also a Member of the Executive Committee, responsible for Education in the IEEE Romania Association. At the end of 2023, IEEE designated Dr. Andone as "Distinguished Lecturer" for 2024-2025, which annually recognizes the most active and well-known professionals.
