Silviu Vert and Andrei Ternauciuc – DeL team, distinguished at the UPT 2025 Excellence Awards Gala
Double celebration of innovation in the ID/IFR and Digital Education Department team: our colleagues, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Eng. Silviu Vert and so on. Andrei Ternauciuc were distinguished at UPT Excellence Awards Gala 2025. The event, dedicated to recognizing those who carry forward the UPT mission, honored the contributions made by our colleagues in digitalization and internationalization, through the E³UDRES² University Alliance project.
Silviu Vert – Digitalization Award
Our colleague, Assoc.Prof.Dr.Eng. Silviu Vert, was awarded with Award for Excellence in Digitalization, distincție înmânată de președintele Senatului UPT conf.univ.dr. Liviu Cadariu. The award rewards the complex effort made in coordinating the team that created the university's new digital ecosystem and the university's future website.
"Vom acorda premiul pentru digitalizare unui tânăr coleg de la facultatea de Electronică, Telecomunicații și Tehnologii Informaționale, pasionat de tehnologie, care s-a străduit în ultimul an și jumătate să fie alături de noi, să coordoneze o echipă mixtă, formată din reprezentanți ai companiilor, iar pe de altă parte, din stakeholderii din universitate – o echipă care a contribuit (…) la realizarea a ceea ce se numește noul site sau noul ecosistem al Universității Politehnica Timișoara”"mentioned the associate professor, Ph.D. Liviu Cadariu in his award-giving speech.
In his acceptance speech, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Eng. Silviu Vert He outlined the vision behind the project in his speech and thanked the team he worked with, as well as his mentors throughout his career:
"This award honors me greatly. What I wanted (…) to achieve a coherent, connected and accessible digital ecosystem, as a university with tradition and with the modern and impactful activities of the Polytechnic University should have. (…) I remain deeply indebted to Professors Radu Vasiu and Diana Andone for the fact that I formed a set of skills through digitalization projects that I carried out in the team and continue to carry out in their team (the teams of the Department of ID/IFR and Digital Education and the Multimedia Center), and especially the course on the use of user experience that I took as a master's student and which I then took over from Dr. Eng. Diana Andone and it helped me a lot to understand many aspects of carrying out such a project”", were the words addressed by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Eng. Silviu Vert on stage.
Andrei Ternauciuc – E³UDRES² Award of Excellence in Internationalization
Ș.l.dr.ing. Andrei Ternauciuc, who was awarded the new prize E³UDRES² partners Award of Excellence in Internationalization, handed over by Emeritus Professor Dr..eng. Radu Vasiu – UPT site coordinator within the University Alliance E³UDRES² partners, the award highlighting the major contribution of Politehnica University Timișoara to the European University Alliance E³UDRES² (Engaged and Entrepreneurial European University as Driver for European Smart and Sustainable Regions).
Prof.em.dr.eng. Radu Vasiu spoke about the new award established, thanking in particular the UPT management, which decided to offer an excellence award this year. E³UDRES² and introduced the project to the audience E³UDRES² partners – that of a European University Alliance of which UPT is part, a project of which 9 universities at European level, from 9 different countries, are part and which looks to the future, towards a vision of what European universities will look like somewhere after 2030. He introduced the progress of the project, being now in a growth phase, with the development of joint courses, joint projects, and a whole series of international collaborations to be implemented in the next two years.
"A decisive step in this direction was taken with the support of the polytechnic in this alliance, because this year is the year in which it was launched. digital platform federated by the Alliance of Universities E³UDRES² partners: the platform is called Arena and facilitates collaboration at both the educational and research levels and any type of collaborations that exist.
The platform was developed according to a UPT concept and we were proud to have a person who could directly participate in the almost complete development of this platform. It is a colleague of ours – the head behind the implementation of both the UPT Virtual Campus and the Unicampus MOOC course platform, also developed by UPT, the only one in the country at this time.
He is a man who did his doctorate in 2011, on a topic that had as its subject communication on digital platforms, facilitating various types of communication interferences between students and teachers, between students and other students – their colleagues, etc. Since then, he has continued to work in this field, becoming perhaps the best Moodle specialist in Romania. I am happy to present the winner of this award, ș.l.dr.ing Andrei Ternauciuc.”", said Prof. Radu Vasiu, in his speech awarding the distinction.
Our colleague, PhD Eng. Andrei Ternauciuc spoke about the strategic importance of the project: "„I am currently overcome by a series of emotions, the excitement of being in front of this illustrious audience, the joy of seeing the recognition of this project of great importance for UPT. The Alliance E³UDRES² partners it is a look into the future that we all dared to have and follow. I would like to thank everyone who actively contributes to this project – from the administration team, to the technical team, to the teachers and students who travel and do all these activities. Perhaps at the moment, the Arena that Professor Vasiu mentioned is the most visible part, but I am convinced that in the coming years, other people will also be recognized for their contribution to this strategic project. ”
Finally, Dr. Andrei Ternauciuc launched a call for involvement: "„Last but not least, I am also filled with a sense of duty, and because I have seen so many people awarded for excellence in research, teaching, etc., I urge you, if you have not done so yet, to sign up for the project's pool of researchers in order to collaborate with researchers from other partner institutions and implement this project to its full potential."”
