Spotlight Heritage Timișoara, finalist of the 2024 ECTN Awards! Your vote matters!
The Politehnica University of Timișoara, through the Department of ID/IFR and Digital Education, is particularly pleased to announce the selection and entry into the finals of the cultural project Spotlight Heritage Timișoara, part of the Cultural Program Timișoara 2023 European Capital of Culture, at the ECTN Awards 2024 - section Progresses of digitization and digital transition in smart and sustainable cultural tourism!
In 2024 we want to enjoy the people and stories that continue! The last 6 years have been the development of stories about the culture and heritage of Timișoara with the help of technology, either through the mobile application, website or the complex applications of augmented, virtual and mixed reality for the project Patrimonil under reflectore Timișoara.
Nomination for the 2024 ECTN Awards – section Digitization advances and digital transition in smart and sustainable cultural tourism, acknowledges the efforts made by our team in developing some unique digital applications, which allow exploring the heritage of the city of Timișoara in a completely new way. By means of augmented, virtual and mixed reality, users can "travel" in time, discover the stories of the past and interact with the historical monuments, but also with the heritage objects of the National Museum of Banat, directly in the digital world. The apps have been used by hundreds of thousands of locals, tourists, virtual tourists, on the streets, museums and international festivals in 10 countries. All digital artifacts are in Romanian - English, licensed under Creative Commons License.

European Cultural Tourism Network (ECTN) is the only pan-European network for the development and promotion of cultural tourism.
The joint jury is made up of representatives of ECTN, Europa Nostra, the European Travel Commission and Dublin City Council - European Capital of Smart Tourism 2024, with the participation of ENAT - European Network for Accessible Tourism for the "Accessibility to heritage" category.
Spotlight Heritage Timișoara/Heritage under the spotlight is a digital cultural initiative of the Politehnica University of Timișoara carried out in partnership with the National Museum of Banat, part of the Cultural Program Timișoara 2023 European Capital of Culture. Cultural project co-financed by the Municipality of Timișoara through the Project Center, the Timiș County Council, the Ministry of Culture, EEA and Norway Grants.
