On Wednesday, March 3, 2021, 16 international speakers presented the latest news related to open education in Romania and the EU during the 8th edition of the workshop Open Education in pandemic times<\/em>, organized within the global event Open Education Week 2021.<\/b><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t

Almost a year after education across the world has faced one of the greatest challenges in history \u2013 the impossibility of holding courses traditionally in classrooms, online education and online courses have become the only option for teaching over many months or even semesters.<\/span><\/p>

Many teachers in schools and universities have struggled with the adjustment to working and teaching online, using applications, platforms, and digital tools \"overnight\" for an indefinite period of educational \u201csocial distancing\u201d.<\/span><\/p>

In these conditions of uncertainty and in such a confusing period for many actors in the field of education, free access to knowledge, open education, open educational resources, and especially collaboration between individuals and institutions have become the \"engine\" of digital integration, and digital transformation, even into the most rigid and traditional education systems in the world.<\/span><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

How has the concept of open education actually contributed to improving the conditions for education during the pandemic?<\/i><\/strong><\/p>

What projects and approaches have been set in motion by universities, associations at local, national, and European level?<\/i><\/strong><\/p>

How can we improve collaboration in universities, institutions, and the community to make the education process more efficient even in the most vulnerable demographic areas?<\/i><\/strong><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

2021 brought an extremely diverse edition of speakers, with a very good gender balance, with young researchers full of enthusiasm but also professors with years of experience behind, with opinions of students but also the perspective of decision makers, with guests from other universities from Timi\u0219oara but also from the country, with many international guests presenting both the didactic and the organizational perspective, with various engineering fields, all accompanied by the obvious passion for open education.<\/p>

Over 1,100 participants<\/strong> were online in an interactive session, broadcast live, simultaneously on Zoom, 6 Facebook pages and CeL's YouTube channel. Among the participants were both teachers and students, actors in the field of culture and creative fields, trainers in IT or in human resources departments. They sent dozens of questions to the presenters and addressed hundreds of messages and thoughts of thanks and congratulations to the presenters and organizers.<\/span><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

Participation was free, the presentations were held in Romanian and English, online, <\/b>and participants received OEW - UPT Open Badges.<\/strong><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

is an event promoted by the worldwide Open Education Consortium, with the aim of presenting the opportunities that open education offers, the results of its integration into all forms of education, whether it is to develop skills or knowledge in the workplace, to support university and pre-university education or simply to learn something new, related to a personal interest of each individual.
